We’ll be recording our shows during our UPCOMING PAKT Tour August 26th – September 7, 2024, including Sellersville, Asheville, Raleigh, ProgDay, and ProgStock Festivals— and are offering a SPECIAL LIMITED FAN EDITION CD from MoonJune. The disc will be a BEST OF from this tour 1-2 songs per show from various concerts along the way. All CDs will be signed by the band (Percy, Alex, Kenny, Tim) and the limited edition of 100 only will include YOUR NAME in the packaging for acting as executive producer.

This PRE-SALE will help us offset some tour costs, mainly van rental, but also hotels and road expenses which for us will be around $600+ per day. Our last tour in the West Coast, even with Merch sales, was offset by heroic financial efforts by Leonardo at MoonJune Records, but this time we won’t have his help. Things are just so expensive these days, and as you’ve surely heard from many bands around the internet, today’s high costs make touring for independent artists very difficult if not impossible. David’s history as a legendary guitarist on ECM records, and working with folks like David Bowie, David Sylvian, Tim Berne, Bill Bruford, Jan Garbarek, Don Cherry, Ryuichi Sakamoto, etc is well known, including his work as a film composer—Carlstedt’s time with legendary jazz drummer Chico Hamilton, and Motzer’s work with David Sylvian, Jaki Liebezeit, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Percy Jones (PAKT), Ursula Rucker, Les Nubians, and others, as well as his decades of releases on 1k Recordings tell the tale. The band’s chemistry is incredible.

This new project BLADE OF follows a forward arch in creative improvisation and composition in the moment with an orchestral stew of sonics and rhythms springing forth from this brilliant band of players. Blade Of is presenting their debut album THE FLOWERING AM on 1k Recordings.

On the occasion of distinguished music journalist Anil Prasad interviewing maestro Bill Bruford on stage at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside PA on June 30th. Fantastic stories and dialogues. It was indeed amazing to say hello and have a brief chat with legendary British drummer Bill Bruford at the Keswick. Bill is one of my favorite drummers/musos of all time. His invention with early Yes, King Crimson, UK, Chris Squire, Genesis, David Torn, & Earthworks to name a few, still hits the high mark. He’s inspired a world full of musicians and listeners alike! What an impact. Such an honor and pleasure. I shared with him a few releases including Blade Of and PAKT – No Steps Left to Trace. I interviewed Bill in the 90’s for his then 2nd Earthworks tour. Latest 1k Release: THE STREAM

Doug Hirlinger / Tim Motzer – The Stream (1k070)
Drummer Doug Hirlinger and guitarist Tim Motzer have been exploring and playing together for 25 years and released their first recording in 2009: Base3 – No Time For Silence along with bassist Barry Meehan. They’ve collaborated and recorded at 1k on the albums Descending with Markus Reuter; the recent trio of Swana, Motzer, Hirlinger entitled Channels; and as a duo on Unseen Universe in 2016. They’ve played live in many adventurous settings and alignments.
Back in May of 2023, the duo began getting together to play regularly in the 1k studio to document what was currently happening. The Stream is the recorded result, with stream of consciousness improvisations pushing boundaries and sounds further into new language. It is indeed exciting to listen to the unfolding motion as Motzer’s instinctive guitar & electronic abstractions plus Hirlinger’s dynamism in rhythm, polymetrics, nuance, and propulsion on the drums leads to striking new musical territories. Deep listening between the players is obviously stirring the daring interplay in this supersonic percussive long-form odyssey. Take the ride. Headphones recommended.Doug Hirlinger – drums
