Amsterdam-based band Doctor Velvet is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated debut album, NEW BREED. This dynamic record marks the band’s inaugural full-length release, showcasing their innovative approach to rhythm ‘n blues.

Doctor Velvet—composed of high school friends and bandleaders David and Jerome—has assembled a formidable lineup for this album, including notable musicians like Alex Figueira (Conjunta Papa Upa) and Sam Ghezzi (The Hi-Stakes, The Roaring Cats). Under the expert guidance of producer Paul Willemse at Electric Monkey Studio, the band has created a hypnotic listening experience that fuses elements of Latin soul, 50’s rock ‘n roll, and a distinct 60’s vibe.

NEW BREED is an audacious blend of dark, brooding undertones with irresistibly danceable rhythms. The album’s unique soundscape takes listeners on a captivating journey through swamps, smoky nightclubs, and haunted roads, weaving a narrative rich in heartbreak and intrigue. Influenced by both classic artists and modern icons like Nick Curran and James Hunter Six, Doctor Velvet delivers a fresh perspective on the rhythm ‘n blues genre.

Bandleaders David and Jerome first crossed paths in high school, bonding over their shared passion for blues and rock ‘n roll. Their musical journey began with the release of their debut single “Put The Hurt On Me” in March 2022, which quickly sold out. Following this success, the band embarked on a notable tour across 11 Dutch cities and a series of electrifying performances in Brazil, including appearances at major festivals. Since then, Doctor Velvet has continued to captivate audiences, sharing the stage with Benjamin Herman (New Cool Collective), touring France, and making their debut on the main stage of Amsterdam’s renowned Paradiso. With the release of NEW BREED, the band is set to embark on a Dutch club tour this fall, with exciting plans for a Spanish tour in 2025.
