« Bebop lives! This primal hipster (he was one of the cats who followed Bird around with a wire recorder) has never quit touring or recording… His credits as a singer/songwriter/piano-man are as impressive as his vocal style, ranging from the vocalese classic « Yardbird Suite » to « I’m Hip » (a collaboration with Dave Frishberg), « Blue Xmas » (the dark, cynical Christmas song he wrote for Miles) and, god help us, Multiplication Rock… » (Michael Goodwin)
Both established artists on the international jazz scene, their double-duo covers new terrain with a fresh take on standards, poetry and original songs.
Downbeat says, « Judy Niemack is one of the best, and purest jazz singers ever. She has a disciplined improvisational gift that makes her scat-sung lines music…and puts over a tune with passion and singular phrasing…Classy. »
« Jay Clayton is one of the most phenomenal vocalists in creative improvised music. » (All Music Guide).
They will be joined by the « exceptionally eloquent and expressive guitarist » (Jazz Times), Jeanfrançois Prins, and Jay Anderson, whose « bass frolics, romps, bounces and strides with impeccable precision » (Houston Chronicle).
