967 Fender Stratocaster that was owned and played by Jimi Hendrix. Pictured here is Carmine Appice holding this guitar. Jimi gave this guitar as a gift to James “Tappy” Wright in late 1968 – early 1969. Tappy was part of the Hendrix management with Chas Chandler, Mike Jefferey, and Bob Levine. Tappy was originally the road manager of The Animals. Comes with video of Tappy with the Stratocaster describing the guitar and history, a letter of provenance from Tappy, a letter and photo from Carmine Appice (drummer from Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart), a letter from Norms Rare Guitars, and a letter from Fleetwood Owen Auctions. It comes with photos of Billy Cox with the guitar, Kenny Olson with the guitar, and photos of Kenny and Billy recording with the guitar. Billy used this guitar on one of his recordings in 2009. It has been on display at the Musicians Hall Of Fame and Museum in Nashville for 2 years and is still currently on display. It has also been on display in Paris France at the Cite de La Musique. This was from October 2006 – January 2007. In 2001 Janie Hendrix and Experience Hendrix LLC claimed ownership of the guitar. After seven years the Experience Hendrix LLC have settled out of court and has given up its’ claim to ownership of the guitar as part of a settlement of a defamation suit in San Diego County Superior Court. A letter from Janie Hendrix and Experience Hendrix LLC stating that they will make no further claim and will not interfere with any future sale of the guitar is included.
