Together our goal is to save the lives of millions of dogs from rabies and from being killed because of fear of outbreaks. And together we’ve proven that humane vaccination is the only way to stop the spread of this disease and create safer, healthier communities for dogs and people alike.

So last week when the World Health Organization and other international bodies met and announced their framework for eliminating rabies by 2030, the mass vaccination of dogs was an important part. This is the biggest step forward ever in the global protection of dogs and you had an impact.

Celebrating 10 years saving bears in Romania / 10 années au secour des ours en Roumanie!

Longtime supporters probably remember that ten years ago, with our partner Asociatia Milioane de Prieteni (AMP), we opened our Libearty sanctuary in Romania to house bears rescued from the animal entertainment industry.

Now, because of your ongoing support, we are celebrating giving more than 80 beautiful bears the lives they deserve – full of nature, peace and freedom.

To say thank you and to show you the joy you’ve brought to the lives of these bears, we’d like to share a video of Samy enjoying a lovely day at the sanctuary.

Nos sympathisants de longue date s’en souviennent : il y a dix ans, avec notre partenaire Asociatia Milioane de Prieteni (AMP), nous ouvrions le sanctuaire Libearty, en Roumanie, pour accueillir les ours rescapés de l’industrie du divertissement.

Facing down Hurricane Patricia – because of you, we were ready / Grâce à vous, nous étions prêts à affronter l’ouragan Patricia

We know we can count on you to save and comfort animals in danger.  You have stood up to protect animals when their lives were shattered by natural disasters.

As we waited for what was predicted to be the strongest hurricane ever recorded bearing down on the Pacific coast of Mexico we knew we were ready – because of you.

Because of your ongoing support we have been working with the Mexican government to prepare.  For many years we have been working with them on including animals in emergency planning and building a vet emergency response team.

In direct advance of the storm, we helped broadcast warnings and information for people and animals. For the first time ever, animals were evacuated right alongside people and were welcome in the shelters.

And while catastrophe was averted, we remain on the ground in Mexico, supplying food and veterinary support to 3,000 animals caught in the recently flooded Mascota City – or Pet City. We hope we can count on you yet again to help the animals who need it the most in Mexico and around the world. 

Nous savons que nous pouvons compter sur vous pour sauver et soigner des animaux en danger. Vous êtes là pour les protéger quand des catastrophes naturelles détruisent leur vie.

À l’approche de ce qu’on annonçait comme l’ouragan le plus violent à jamais balayer la côte Pacifique du Mexique, nous savions que nous étions prêts, grâce à vous.

C’est votre appui sans faille qui nous a permis d’élaborer avec le gouvernement mexicain une stratégie de protection. Depuis plusieurs années, nous travaillons avec le Mexique à planifier les urgences pour les animaux et à mettre sur pied une équipe d’intervention vétérinaire, entre autres.

En prévision de l’ouragan, nous avons contribué à diffuser des avertissements et de l’information pour les communautés et les animaux. Pour la première fois, les animaux ont pu être évacués en même temps que la population et être accueillis dans des abris.

Même si la catastrophe a été évitée, nous restons sur place pour distribuer de la nourriture et des soins vétérinaires aux 3000 animaux pris dans les récentes inondations à la ville de Mascota (ou « Mascotte »). Nous espérons pouvoir encore compter sur vous pour aider les animaux qui en ont le plus besoin, au Mexique et partout dans le  monde.

Stand up for elephants and help stop the cycle of cruelty / Élevez-vous contre le cycle de cruauté imposé aux éléphants

Recently we shared with you our new report on the cruelty behind elephant rides. Those elephants destined for the tourism industry are separated from their mothers at just a few months old. Their spirits are broken as they undergo incredible trauma to be forced to interact with and perform for people.

Tragically, the demand for wildlife entertainment is growing globally. We know that people visit these attractions because they love animals and many are completely unaware of the suffering that occurs behind the scenes. We need your help to spread the word!

Nous vous avons récemment présenté notre nouveau rapport sur la cruauté derrière les tours à dos d’éléphant. Les éléphants destinés à l’industrie touristique sont séparés de leur mère et du troupeau à l’âge de quelques mois. Puis on les « casse » au cours d’une intense période de torture physique et mentale, jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient assez soumis pour interagir avec les humains.

Malheureusement, la demande en divertissements avec la faune connait une croissance mondiale. On sait que les touristes visitent ces attractions parce qu’ils aiment les animaux, mais la plupart ignorent complètement la cruauté qui se passe en coulisse. Aidez-nous à faire passer le mot!
