“NY TIMES: « Washington State Weighs Far-Reaching Law on Animal Trafficking » The New York Times just called our ballot initiative “the most far-reaching statewide law on animal trafficking in the nation” — and we’re proud of that Jean Paul. The only other states that have enacted similar measures are California, New York, and New Jersey, but Initiative 1401 is the next step and would strike a crucial blow to trafficking in animals products. Today is Election Day. If we pass Initiative 1401, then Washington will be enacting the strongest measures to help save animals that are threatened with possible extinction. Washington State will be setting an example for the entire nation. But Jean Paul, we can only do it with your support in these finals hours.
TODAY Washington will decide whether they will condemn and criminalize the modern wildlife trade that is wiping out endangered animals, or if wildlife poachers will continue to slaughter rhinos for their horns and elephants for their tusks. With your support NOW, we can make sure Washington voters make the right decision and say YES to Initiative 1401. Thanks, -SaveAnimalsFacingExtinction.org

“Zimbabwe: Poachers’ Cyanide Kills 22 Elephants in Park” We had to share this story with you Jean Paul. The New York Times reported that last week, Zimbabwean rangers found the carcasses of 22 elephants in Hwange National Park — poisoned to death with cyanide. Poachers murdered these elephants in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park — the same park where Cecil the Lion was killed and where 14 elephants were poisoned in October. This is horrific Jean Paul. This means that, in Zimbabwe alone, 78 elephants were poisoned by poachers IN OCTOBER. Greedy poachers continue to brutally murder elephants all so they can sell their ivory. BREAKING NEWS
“‘The Devil,’ most wanted ivory trafficker in Tanzania arrested”
Notorious elephant poacher Boniface Matthew Mariango, better known as “Shetani” or “The Devil,” was arrested by the National and Transnational Serious Crimes Investigation Unit!
He’s Tanzania’s “Most Wanted” elephant poacher and ivory trafficker, after managing 15 poaching syndicates that have operated throughout East Africa.
This is a MAJOR VICTORY. With the arrest of The Devil, as well as the arrest of the Queen of Ivory and the commitments to ban ivory by President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, there is hope for the elephants.
But we need to keep fighting Jean Paul. We need success here, in America, and passing Initiative 1401 in Washington state on Tuesday is the next step!

Earlier this year, Cecil the Lion was lured out of his home in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. Days later, he was found shot, skinned, and beheaded. All for sport.
Last week in the very same park, 14 elephants were poisoned to death with cyanide-laced oranges. Why? So poachers could cut off their tusks and sell their ivory.
It’s monstrous. And it’s exactly why we need to pass Initiative 1401.

Jean Paul —
Just this week, Zimbabwean national park officials confirmed that 14 elephants were poisoned to death with cyanide in Hwange National Park — the very same park where Cecil the Lion was killed.
What could possibly make this senseless slaughter worse? Six of the elephants had their ivory tusks cut off.
Jean Paul, it was greedy poachers who brutally murdered these elephants with cyanide laced oranges and poisoned salt licks, all so they can sell their ivory.
This is why we need to pass Initiative 1401 on November 3rd. If we can do it, we’ll be taking a HUGE steps towards protecting elephants and nine other precious animals from the threat of extinction.

Jean Paul — Less than a century ago, Africa was home to more than five million elephants. Today, an elephant dies every 15 minutes and they are threatened with extinction. It’s a massacre. What’s worse is that this slaughter is all to fuel the illegal ivory trade — a massive market that is focused on the poaching of elephants and the trafficking and sale of their ivory. Without action NOW, we risk living in a world where elephants don’t exist in the wild. SIGN YOUR NAME: Stop the worldwide slaughter of elephants >> The United States only falls second to China as the largest market of ivory trafficking. If we don’t take urgent action — action like passing our ballot initiative next month — the only way our children will learn about elephants is in their history books. We can’t let that happen. “Desperate Elephants Shot With Poison Arrows Travel To Humans For Help”
When we saw this headline Jean Paul, we knew we had to share this story with you.
Last month, three wild elephants were attacked by poachers with poisoned arrows. Rather than give up, they trekked across the African landscape to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Why? They knew these humans would help. Elephants have incredible spatial reasoning abilities — meaning they can craft detailed mental maps to help them navigate their territory. Because these elephants were so intelligent, they were able to get to exactly the right place to get treatment and to survive these brutal attacks.

Jean Paul — Have you ever heard of the pangolin? Chances are you haven’t. This mysterious — and critically endangered — species are the most trafficked animals in the world. Millions of pangolins have been traded and killed in the last decade. In fact, we have no idea how many pangolins are even left in the wild. With so few pangolins left Jean Paul, we can’t risk the chance of never learning about these animals. Donate $5 or more to protect the pangolins and to keep them alive and thriving!
Pangolins are slaughtered to fill a growing demand in Chinese markets. They are hunted for food, for use in folk remedies, and to fuel a rampant illegal international trade of their scales, skins, and meat. All eight pangolin species are protected under national and international laws, but that doesn’t stop poachers and the illegal trade of pangolin scales and meat. Jean Paul, we are dangerously close to living in a world without pangolins. A world where many will never know that these animals existed and we will barely have any memory of them. We need to act NOW to save the pangolins and other animals that are being slaughtered into extinction — like the elephants, rhinos, and tigers. Please, donate $5 or more today so that we can save the pangolins and all these precious animals >> Thank you for taking action, Stephanie

This is terrible Jean Paul. Poachers have attacked, yet again, and taken one of our beloved elephants. The beloved endangered Sumatran elephant, Yongki, was found dead on Friday — his tusks hacked off. Yongki was famous in Indonesia for patrolling the jungles of Bukit Barisan National Park on anti-poaching missions and protecting threatened habitats. What happened? Yongki was poisoned and his tusks appear to have been cut off with a chainsaw. Why? Greedy, vicious poachers took the life of this innocent elephant to sell its for ivory for profit. Tragedies like this need to end Jean Paul. Will you act now and donate $5 or more to help us save elephants from poachers?
