The rock of the ’70s was fragmented, fragmentary. New « currents » – most often recycles of old ones – would appear for a very short time, and then disappear into oblivion, taking their protagonists with them.
The first of the rock movements of the seventies was Glam, or Camp Rock. It undoubtedly emerged as a reaction to heavy – both in terms of sound and intellectual pretensions – rock. The strangest thing about the history of glam rock is that its progenitor was the underground man, the rock mystic and idealist of the late ’60s, Marc Bolan.
