Update from Robben:
We’ve just returned from the US, having recorded tracks for a new album for the Mascot label. The band is Darryl Jones on bass, Larry Goldings on keyboards and Gary Husband on drums. For me, this recording is a tribute to the great Jeff Beck and also to Alexander Dumble, builder of the amp that became half of my voice on the guitar for most of my career.
I did come to Jeff’s playing later in my life – a live performance in San Diego, Ca. in around 2007. But, he has become a big inspiration for me in developing something new in my own playing which is truly exciting – New guitar, new sounds and new things to play! I’m grateful to him for the inspiration
We recorded in the beautiful studio on the Sweetwater Campus in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I had recorded an album there with Jing Chi in 2017 called Supremo, and the experience was so good I felt confident that all would go well. A lot of great people at Sweetwater.
Back in London, I’m finding good people work with and some promising studios. It won’t be released until Spring of next year, so, there is no real pressure. But, I’m excited to keep at it!
There are some shows coming up in Portugal and Spain with my group here in London. Then we are touring the new recording called Dragon Tales with Darryl, Larry and Gary in Italy late November into early December.
