In the fall of 2020 in the midst of the Covid pandemic I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Having lost my mom 3 years prior to same illness, my world just crushed.

So many insecurities. We just designed and build a beautiful home for our family in Manhattan Beach CA . So many questions- are we moving back to Europe? Am I retiring? Maybe I should stop performing all together.

Guitar saves lives and music saves lives.

Buthel- my bass player and MD- said “You can’t retire! You’re born for this. We got work to do, we need to touch people with our music”. He simply has that gift – he can build people up. In between 14 chemo therapies, we would get on zoom, write and compose music. In between flying back and forth from LA to Amsterdam where I was treated, this record happened.

Demos and recordings and re-recordings and many times like that.

Buthel was there for me, taking care of the band, the music, choosing wigs and hats with me, helping me through every difficult day on the road.

So needless to say, this record saved my spirit, this music and this ‘64 Fender strat saved my life.

Once I could get back on my feet again everything crystalized for me. I was able to embrace my self, reinvent my self, both my looks and my sound. Where I’m now I don’t want to look back.

I want to thank everyone who’s been involved in making this record. My band on both sides of the ocean, all the incredible musicians that gave their talent and their time to this, you all gave me hope. But most of all I want to thank my dear friend Buthel and my family: my amazing husband Mark, and our two sweethearts Luuk and Lenna for giving me the reason to fight.
