Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox *** LIVE AT RAINBOW BRIDGE (Hawaii)
Even as late as the early 1960’s trains were still very much a part of the American fabric…The homes in both Clarksville, and Nashville, Tn where Jimi and I l…ived were all but a stone’s throw from railroad tracks. Just like many other artists, poets and song writers, Jimi Hendrix, being a master of words, boarded that writer’s train. Because of our proximity to train tracks, we could “loudly” hear a train coming.
P.S. I have always thought, and so did Jimi, the sound of a train, especially late at night, has a bluesy melancholic feel.
